Kids Club, The Zone & Connect Groups

  • Kids Club, The Zone, and Connect Groups

We provide weekly groups for children, teens and young adults during term time.

These groups are an opportunity for children and young people to come together to build positive social connectives, learn life skills and develop a sense of belonging in a safe and welcoming environment. Under the guidance of speech and language and occupational therapists, they come together to enjoy time with their peers in a wide variety of activities.

All individuals that attend our group sessions have been through the initial consultation process and also will have attended some individual sessions. We feel this is an important step prior to joining the group to build rapport with the individual and to best determine the appropriate group.

    Kids Club

Aimed for primary aged children, Kids Club provides a fun and structured environment for children. Emphasis is on self-awareness and self-regulation, as well as employing appropriate social problem solving techniques.

These are developed through game playing, electronics, sports and leisure activities, small group work with therapists, daily living skill activities and community outings.

    The Zone

The Zone provides an opportunity for teens and young adults to hang out and develop positive connections, whilst having fun and reducing social anxiety.

It gives them a chance to ‘get off the computer’ and find other ways to be entertained, as well as developing social and emotional intelligence skills, executive functioning, independence and self-regulation, and learning to interact positively with others in a group.

Activities include board games, meal planning and cooking, art and craft, and organising social outings (e.g. meals in a restaurant, movies, ten pin bowling, walking etc).

    Connect Groups

Social Connection groups run during the week.

These are an opportunity for young adults to come together to build positive social connections, learn life skills, follow a shared interest and develop a sense of belonging in a small group that is safe and welcoming.

Activities include cooking, games, arts & crafts and community trips.
